Shimenawa is something that can be seen all around Japan. The rope is often used by Shinto priests to indicate that an object or item is sacred, and important. It is also serves as a reminder to people to be mindful of God. The idea of using a rope or a piece of string as a reminder is actually used by other cultures. In America, some people tie a string around there finger in hopes to remember to complete a certain task later on.

This project will consist of 108 different photographs. I dont know when it will be completed, but I plan on using a host of different formats to do so.

My goal with this project is to ask people to reflect on what is sacred within their own lives.
