Color digestion

I have a thing where I enjoy ‘eating’ color. I don’t know exactly how to describe this feeling. It’s like you see rich colors, or some unique interplay of color and light (for me I enjoy a soft diffused light on a bold color most), and it ‘fills’ you up. It excites you. What it surrounds my not really be that exciting, but the light and the color fuels you. I’m sure there is a 5-dollar term for what I’m trying to describe here. My flickr favorites is riddles with these types of pictures. The subject/story isn’t really much, if anything, but the colors come together in a way that make me stare at them, and I get something out of it. I feel energized by it.

I’m going to call it color digestion. I’m adding a category for pictures like this. All of these pictures were shot on camera that’s about to be 10 years old, the DP2M. It’s a pain to work with, but it is without a doubt the best digital tool I have for creating these types of photos.

I went to this museum, because I lowkey want to do a sneaky photo shoot here someday. I love the color here. I didn’t do anything to these files, except for very slight exposure changes. There are many windows here that have a yellow tint to them, coloring everything around them. It’s been a minute since I’ve taken my DP2M out. I think that it’s laziness that prevents me from picking it up over my other cameras. Shooting with it is great (although the battery life is short), it’s the editing that brings me pain. I’m really hoping that C1, or Lightroom will eventually take on .xf3 files (I’m moreso hoping C1 will, as I don’t like how Adobe interprets .dng files, so if that’s any indication of what they could do to the Sigma files…

Still waiting for the FF L-mount camera to come out. Let’s hope it is soon.
