Throwaways: Trip to Indonesia

I can’t wait to go back to Indonesia. I fucked up and drank some tea on my 3rd day, but other than that I loved every moment. I took three cameras, my D16 for video, my M9 for digital photos, and of course the trusted TX-1 for film. I wanted to go, because of a documentary I saw and a book that I read. The documentary is called the Ring of Fire, and it’s about two brothers who spent years there just exploring. Riding ships with pirates, exploring the smaller islands, and immersing themselves in the traditions. One of them fell ill and eventually they met up with a man who supposedly could heal him using chi alone. He also had the ability to use pyrokinesis (he could light shit on fire using a supernatural ability that he honed). He only made a small cameo in the documentary, but that small appearance inspired a young man in Greece to search for him. He eventually found him and was initiated, and trained. He wrote a couple of books about the amazing journey, I forgot the title of the second one, but the first is called The Magus of Java. His determination to find him, and the courage to go there with no real assurances, and the original documentary are the main reasons I wanted to go to Indonesia. Dynamo Jack’s dream was to initiate one person of each race, and I cannot tell you how much 20-year old me wanted to be the initiated one for my people! Haha. When I was walking the streets of Jakarta, I secretly wished that I could be as lucky as Kostas was!

Anyways, here are my throwaways from my time spent there:
